Shane Geraghty

Shane GeraghtyShane Geraghty is the London Irish and England fly-half / centre. The youngest of three sons of sport loving parents, Shane was introduced to the game came at the Broadstreet Club in his home town of Coventry. However, it was when he went to the famous Colston's Collegiate School in Bristol that his talent really emerged. In two years at the Bristol college he was part of the team that won the leading St Joseph's (Ipswich) tournament two years in succession.

He joined the London Irish Academy in July 2004 and made dramatic progress to the extent that he was invited to join the England National Academy after a year where he benefited from the individual coaching of Jon Callard and Brian Ashton. He was included as one of three fly halves, in Brian Ashton's Elite England Squad for the 2007 Six Nations. He made his debut as a substitute on 11 March 2007 in the RBS Six Nations win against France, playing a huge part in England's vital second try and helping England to win the game by kicking 5 points. Geraghty won his second cap as a substitute versus Wales in the final game of the 2007 Six Nations.

He was named in Brian Ashton's England training squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup and was called into the England Saxons side in 2008, where he was declared man-of-the-match in the victory over Ireland A on 1 February. He was called up to the England squad for the 2008 Six Nations Championship and is looking forward to becoming an integral part of Martin Johnson's plans for the 2009 Six Nations and beyond.
